After an amazing three-week adventure in Africa, I’m back and ready to share the highlights of South Africa that took my breath away! Since it’s impossible to cover everything in one go, consider this Part One of my journey. But, if you would like to know more about any parts of my trip, I would love to chat with you about it!

Johannesburg to Durban by Train
I started with 3 days and 2 nights on a Rovos Rail train safari from Pretoria, Johannesburg to Durban. This luxury, all-inclusive journey was filled with delicious meals perfectly paired with South African wines, game drives, incredible scenery, and excellent service. This journey also has the option of 3 nights and ends in Cape Town. We opted to fly to Cape Town due to our schedule.
Wineries, Wildlife, and Natural Wonders in Cape Town
Once in Cape Town, I met up with the rest of the team that I’m so fortunate to work with. The first 2 days were nonstop beautiful scenery. We visited Table Mountain, Kirstenbosch Gardens, Boulder Beach, Seal Island, and the Cape of Good Hope.
The next day was a day trip to Stellenbosch, where we visited the most amazing wine property I have ever seen, Babylonstoren. We actually visited three wineries and had a scrumptious lunch at Tokara Winery. But back to Babylonstoren, words can’t describe it. You really need to spend 3 days there to appreciate it and do all the activities they offer. I’m talking about everything from cooking classes to beekeeping to making your own custom-scented soap. They have plenty of activities for the kids, too. I really didn’t want to leave and trust me when I tell you that it’s worth planning a trip around and that I plan to return.

Game Drives & Relaxation
After Cape Town, we flew to Kruger National Park and started the safari portion of our trip. We had three glorious nights at the Savanna Private Game Reserve. It is a 5-star lodge inside the Sabi Sand Reserve. One big difference between private reserves and National Parks is that in private reserves, the safari vehicles can go off-road to track and view the animals. There are also fewer vehicles, making it less stressful for the animals and more pleasant for the humans.
We had twice-a-day game drives with plenty of R&R time to enjoy our private plunge pool or the main pool, watch the animals at the watering hole, or enjoy a massage. We saw the big five and then some. The food, service, and guides were all 5-star. The guides are so passionate about what they do and they were eager to share all of their knowledge with us.
