In our last newsletter, Debi shared her experience at Xcaret Mexico. This week I’ll share our stay at the outstanding all-inclusive resort Atelier. As I’ve said, all-inclusive resorts are not created equally; Atelier is one of the great ones!
Atelier’s Location
Nestled on the stunning coastline of Playa Mujeres, Atelier stands out as an adults-only haven that blends contemporary Mexican aesthetics with the region’s natural beauty. Playa Mujeres is naturally protected by Isla Mujeres, just a few miles off-shore. This small island serves as a barrier to rough waves and sargassum. The beach is walkable for several miles.
Unwind in Style
The rooms at Atelier are very comfortable and quiet. Construction was happening at the resort on the other side of the golf course, and we couldn’t hear anything when our door was closed. Each space is crafted to offer maximum comfort, with simple-to-use technology and minimalist decor that creates a sense of calm. Most of the rooms are located perpendicular to the beach, so many rooms have a partial ocean view, with most of the view being a garden or golf course.
Dine and Delight
With over 20 dining options on-site, plenty of restaurants fit any taste. From traditional Mexican Mayan to Asian, Mediterranean, and Italian, all our food was delicious. There are also vegan options at every restaurant. Atelier allows checked-in guests to make dining reservations at kiosks located around the property. On the day of arrival, guests may need to dine at one of the buffets but should be able to get into the specialty restaurants after that. The attention to detail is apparent in every dish served, emphasizing fresh ingredients and innovative recipes (but plenty of favorites were offered). Premium liquors, beer and house wines are always included. Some wines come with an additional charge. We paid $60 per person for a tequila tasting paired with food – we learned so much and had a lot of fun with our Tequila Sommelier.
Atelier Activities
Atelier has several pools and a large beach, so you can find your vibe whether you’re looking for peace and quiet or a pool party. There is also a wonderful spa called NUUP and a state-of-the-art gym. The resort’s location north of Cancun makes it perfect for local water activities like kayaking, stand-up paddle boards, and Hobie-cat sailing. There is a Greg Norman golf course on the property. It is further away from the historical ruins like Chichen Itza, so that would be an all-day excursion.
Activities are ongoing all day at the pools and beach, such as volleyball, aqua zumba, fat bike beach tours, bocce, spike ball, yoga, and stretching.
