Welcome to my latest travel blog! I recently returned from an unforgettable Iceland Cruise with my brother and our parents, and I’m excited to share the highlights. From Reykjavik’s fascinating museums to Norway’s jaw-dropping fjords, this journey was filled with breathtaking landscapes, unique cultural experiences, and priceless family memories.

Pre-Cruise: Two Days in Reykjavik

Flyover Iceland experience

Before boarding the Atlas World Traveller, we enjoyed two full days exploring Iceland’s capital city. Our first stop was Flyover Iceland, an immersive experience that made us feel as if we were soaring over glaciers, volcanoes, waterfalls, and fjords. It’s an unforgettable way to kick off an Iceland adventure.

That afternoon, my brother and I rented a car and headed to Thingvellir National Park. If you’re visiting in the summer, don’t miss the complimentary guided tours at 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. Our guide shared insights into the park’s geological and historical significance that added so much depth to our visit.

On our final morning in Reykjavik, we explored the Perlan Museum, where interactive exhibits showcase Iceland’s incredible natural wonders. From there, it was time to embark on the main event—our Iceland Cruise aboard the Atlas World Traveller.

Life Aboard the Atlas World Traveller

life aboard an Iceland cruise

Transitioning from the city to the ship was seamless, and the Atlas World Traveller exceeded our expectations. This intimate luxury yacht carries just 196 passengers, which creates a warm, inviting atmosphere. Our cabins were spacious with clever storage solutions—a welcome surprise compared to traditional cruise ship quarters.

The food was beautifully presented and delicious, and the service was outstanding. Because the ship was small, we connected quickly with both the crew and fellow passengers. There were plenty of spontaneous moments too: the bridge was open for informal tours, and when we asked about seeing the galley, the executive chef himself appeared to give us a private walkthrough. These kinds of experiences simply don’t happen on large ships.

The Itinerary: Natural Wonders at Every Turn

The itinerary was thoughtfully designed with just a day and a half at sea, ensuring we spent maximum time exploring Iceland and Norway’s incredible landscapes. We discovered traditional Turf Homes, learned about glaciers and volcanoes, and marveled at some of the world’s most spectacular waterfalls. Sailing through the fjords was pure magic—the kind of scenery that has you constantly reaching for your camera.

Onboard, we enjoyed excellent lectures, a fun crew talent show, and even a 15-course tapas tasting menu. My brother and I also joined several active excursions, including hikes to remote waterfalls and kayaking in pristine fjords. The highlight was a demanding hike to Pulpit Rock, famous as a filming location for Mission: Impossible – Fallout. Though described as “moderately demanding,” I’d call it very demanding—but reaching the summit and soaking in the panoramic views made every step worth it.

Why I Love Creating Trips Like This

Iceland cruise adventure

This journey reminded me why I’m so passionate about travel planning. Sharing these extraordinary places with family created memories we’ll treasure forever. Along the way, we also made new friends—like our two favorite waiters—who became part of the experience.

“Debi has organized several trips for me and my family and each one was a fantastic trip. She had a perfect number of activities planned and downtime as well. All we had to do was show up and have fun. I highly recommend Premiere Travel Planners. ”
